Tomball didn't always have such an elegant name. Early on, a man named Peck provided a namesake. That was before an extremely likeable and successful newcomer caused the residents to reconsider. Thomas Ball is the reason that the only remnant of a town named Peck is the Peck Hotel, a dive on Main Street.
