I have finally got round to getting a domain and a host. I had always planned to buy FrontPage as a development tool, because I use Office at work and home, and my computer career has been pretty much tied in with Microsoft products. But when I go to the MS site, I see this:
"Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Designer 2007 and Microsoft® Expression Web Designer are partially based on FrontPage technologies and will be launched in the second half of 2006. Microsoft® Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition were successfully launched in 2005."
So is FrontPage on the way out? Should I get one of these new tools instead? I want to be state-of-the-art, but I don't want to be saddled with expensive, bug-ridden, essentially beta code.
So, what software would you advise a new website builder to buy?
Not to throw a curve ball. Dreamweaver by Adobe would be my pick for an editor. It is much more powerful than FrontPage. Visual Studio.NET is powerful I'm afraid you will find the learning curve to be pretty steep for a first website.
