"...and did I mention that you smoke?"
(Notes to J.D. 6-5-03)
I can tell we're not meant for each other,
Oh just let me count the ways:
You're headstrong and could be a bother,
My dear we'd not last for a day;
You eat the wrong things -it's appalling,
pizza with french fries, oh dear,
You don't like Rioja -how galling!
(if anything, you'll take a beer)
I can tell we're not meant for each other
Oh just let me count the ways;
you march to your very own drummer,
you're determined to have things your way,
You care not a wit for refinement,
You don't go to operas and plays,
and dresses to you are confinement,
A tomboy you've been all your days.
I can say we're not meant for each other,
It's apparent in so many ways,
(you've a temper just like my mother)
...and yet...I am here in this haze;
I shan't worry, it's merely a crush dear,
You're not meant for me -I won't have it!
So why am I feeling this rush dear?
...Oh well, you're my heroine habit.

jjorge- That is wonderful! I will bet that a lot of people, both men and women, will be smiling (and remembering) when they read your poem!
Jjorge, funny, isn't it, how love can hit when you aren't looking or even hoping? Your sense of humor puts it in glorious perspective--capturing that feeling of falling, regardless of differences or impossible situations. Ah, love!!
Jjorge! I love it. I must check these theads that are bewitching you. LOVE the title!
Edit -- Have returned after reading the other two poems. Goodness, this has been going on a while. I'm so glad J.D. made a good recovery after her operation. I suppose her daughter's child has been born by now.
Best wishes for you (and her) in this lovely romance. We are getting a little peek at it -- it's like a film. (I've always thought you should be published, my friend. And now, perhaps a movie script?)
Now that I've revealed so much, I'm a tad embarrassed.
Oh, heck, don't worry about it. I think it is romantic. We all should be lucky enough to have romance in our lives. My comment about film... that's from an Italian book I was reading. Whenever anything happens that is particularly wonderful or amazing (according to the author), then someone would say "just like in the cinema" or "just like in the movies." I like it, a sweet commentary, meant to compliment.
Don't be embarrassed, jjorge. We're envious!
(LOVE the poem!)
I loved the poem !!
Having just started dating someone new - everything which we say to each other is a discovery abt each other !!
But do we tell all ????
visitor

Gautam
Glad you liked it.
Nice observation about new relationships.* Aren't they delightful!
*(from The King and I)
Getting to know you,
Getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you,
Getting to hope you like me.
Getting to know you,
Putting it my way,
But nicely,
You are precisely,
My cup of tea.
Getting to know you,
Getting to feel free and easy
When I am with you,
Getting to know what to say
Haven't you noticed
Suddenly I'm bright and breezy?
Because of all the beautiful and new
Things I'm learning about you
Day .. by ... day.
(Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein)
Jjorge, you are the sweetiest. Please don't be embarrassed and please keep us up to date on your romance. Piffka is right--it should be a movie, one of those stories that you never want to end.
