Got this in one of those chain emails - anyone know its veracity?

ARL OR AFL?

36 have been accused of spousal abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad checks
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71, repeat 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
8 have been arrested for shoplifting
21 currently are defendants in lawsuits, and
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year

Can you guess which organization this is?

Give up yet? . . .

Scroll down,

Neither,

it's the 535 members of the

AUSTRALIAN PARLIAMENT IN CANBERRA

The same group of Idiots that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

You've got to pass this one on!

This is important. Can it be verified and if so, can names be named?
(Those proven to be guilty, of course!)

It's an urban myth, taken from a similar myth in the USA. See http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/congress.htm

Cheers,

I got sent this by an idiot relative of mine. She didn't bother to check if it was true, she just accepted it at face value, happy to have her negative pre-existing ideas about politicians reinforced. As she read it, she probably shook her head thinking, "Bloody politicians." The moral of the story is: question everything. If it doesnt ring true, it probably isn't.

D'ya think I could become a politician.

I have absolutely no interest in politics, though - is that a requirement?

I live next door to a local government politician - appears to be an unlovely combination of sleaze and corruption!
