Sorry to cause some of you to worry about me, you lovely people.

I've been pretty much out of it today, with these bloody painkillers they've given me (Dihydrocodeine - df118 forte). I took some this morning on an empty stomach, and was quite high for about two hours and then slept most of the day.

I'm about to take some more and go to bed, as I have to see the boss tomorrow (the same guy who last operated on me) and am going to enjoy having a scope pushed down my throat. Lovely.

It's OK, as I've had two done before and it's nothing, really. I feel a lot better than I did yesterday, but the stomach is still griping quite a bit.

Anyhoo, I'll fill you all in tomorrow, and I'm sure it's going to be a fuss about nothing.
Cross your fingers for me, anyway. Every little helps.

G'night, peeps.

Most of today's belly-griping will be the result of the DF118 (which I looked up before I turned the page!)

Become friends with constipation, Ellpus!

Hope you're OK, though!

You know I am keeping vigil 'till you return, Ellpus...

I think you may have overdone it during your sojourn to France.

If you were less middle class and just stuck to Blackpool (like moi) you would be well rested now!

DF's fetch a high price on the streets round these parts - save 'em up and flog 'em, they would finance your next trip!

You know I'm thinking of you.

I say!

Them were damn fine buttocks too!

You obviously give your gluteals a regular workout.

I could be REALLY smutty now... but I shan't as I've turned over a new leaf...

<AHEM> ........Returning to the subject in hand (I know that is begging for a comeback).......

Moving through to the other side of the kitchen, the thoroughly bored virtual guest will enter the hallway, and wonder at the artisitic inspiration which caused the previous owner to cover the panels of the doors with little bits of grotty wallpaper, rather than pint them white (very dark hallway, no windows) and the walls an "off" white or very pale colour.

Ho hum......

Bedroom 1 entrance...

Unfortunately, there is not a shot of bedroom 2, owing to the fact that there was a sleeping Dutchwoman in it at the time.
Bed 2 has a bath and sink, and the grottiest wallpaper in the entire house.

Looking back from door of bed 1, towards front door (right) and Ellpus throne room (small) left.

There is also a door (on left) to bathroom. Unfortunately, said previous owner was still suffering from inspiration when he tiled the room in such a subtle and calming colour......

Grotty amateur videos (taken in 15 second snaps, on mini digital camera) shot two years ago.

This one shows the interior of upstairs flat, and some of the outside.....

Vid 2.....
The outside, then shots from a distance and various French and English people saying "helooooooo".....

Vid 3.......

More detailed outside shots, showing castle then neighbour, then our two houses. Final bit is interior of barn area (above barns, standing on beams) and roof.

This all makes me feel slightly better about my place, lordloveaduck.

But your place is bigger, oh, say 100x.

The iron work and surrounding campagne are gorgeous - is that your greenhouse?

I know, CJ.
The main house is quite liveable though, so there's no rush.

Yes, lk, the greenhouse (polytunnel) is ours. That's the garden area to the rear of the house. In one of the vids, you can see our field as well, with the very faint black lines of the hedges marking the boundary. All in all about 11 acres.

Soz, I'll be posting some before and "during" pics of the little house soon, as that's the one we're working on first of all.

Funny thing with the field.....when we bought the place, we were worried how we were going to keep the field in order, and not let it go wild.
We had just arrived on our first visit as "owners" and were intending to ask the neighbouring farmer if he could mow it at various times during the year, for which we would pay him the going rate.
Before we had even made a coffee, he turned up and asked if we would allow him to graze his cows there, for which in return he would cut our hedges twice a year, and PAY US!! (about £150 a year).

We didn't argue, of course.

Re: MY EXCITING ENCOUNTER WITH A FRENCH PUSSY - MARVEILLEUX
OK.....now the little house.

http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g112/lord_ellpus/PICT7239.jpg

When we first bought the place, it needed half of the roof renewing (done), had no windows or doors at all (now fitted) and was the place where a barn owl used to take its prey, digest it and then deposit a pellet on the ground. There were about fifty or so pellets, but no sign or evidence of a nest.
We found out that it nested in the castle, and only used the little house for either it's digesting place, or for shelter etc.

It is now annoyed with us for barring his entrance with glass, and refuses to catch any mice on our land.

Anyway, as you can see, the little house was quite a mess when we arrived.....

Inside what will eventually be the kitchen....

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b358/lordellpus/PICT7199.jpg

Looking the other way, towards the bread oven......you can see that there was some grotty old plasterboard covering half the room (and the wonderful beams). Well, that was eventually all ripped off...

http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b358/lordellpus/PICT7201.jpg

View towards back door, and doorway through to what will be the tiny living room...

Bread oven "close ups"......this thing is at least 4-500 years old(apart from the metal door)

The chimney is situated at the front, so any smoke would actually come out of the oven itself, and look like it was disappearing behind the mantle piece.
