Love those, Swimpy!

I've developed a lot of affection for this building, which turns out to be sozlet's favorite, too.

LeVeque tower, completed 1927, at night:

Zillions of lovely Victorians in Victorian Village -- one thing I really love about Columbus is how conservation-minded it is, in terms of old houses.

Really like those first two... the Redstone and the Octagon House. Don't mind the others..

The Redstone reminds me of houses in Eureka (CA) - it was a Victorian Era seaport. Many of the buildings there are constructed in redwood, though, not red stone...

I've put in a request to have the subject changed to "Share architecture from your area".

I think it would make for a more interesting thread to have others share photos of heritage style architecture from their own towns.

Just to show you that there are some new buildings here. this is the new convention center on the Mississippi River. This angle shows the side that faces the river. I don't know any of those people.

I'm still looking for a picture of the other side.

Looks a bit like something you would find at an airport.

Stop me if I'm boring you.

This is an old picture of the Majestic Theatre. It's now part of the Five Flags Civic Center.

Nope, carry on.

Interesting building. I wonder when the fire escape stairs were added?

Here's a famous building that we have in our capitol city, Victoria (on Vancouver Island).

The Odd Fellows Hall - This building had a sad fate. I was used as an office building after the end of the Odd Fellows reign. A local bank took posession of it in the 70s and didn't put any money into its upkeep. They wanted to tear it down to put up a parking lot (and pave paradise.) The local historical society took them to court to try and save it, but the bank was able to argue that the cost of repairs was too high. Sad irony, that.

Interesting to compare that Odd Felllows' building's use of brick and glass with the one in Reyn's town, the City Hall. Much more liveliness to the arrangement..

One last one, before I go. Our Eagle Point Park was a Depression Era WPA project. The pavilions still stand unchanged. Here is a picture of the Riverfront Pavilion.
