Chapter 1: Imperial Escape

Imperial Prison

Ryden sat up against the wall of his small cell. Prison guards patrolling the outside cells and corridors. He sat there watching, planning his move. Meanwhile Captain Fontain sat in his office, two guards stood patrolling the outside. "Sawyer" called the captain; "Yes Sir" answered Sawyer "Come here". Sawyer entered Fontain's office. "I need you to fetch Ryden, I need him to answer a few questions," "Yes sir, Right away sir"
In the silence Ryden could hear footsteps approaching his cell, he got up and looked through the bars. He could see Sawyer clearly as the moonlight shone down on him from above, He sat back down and knew this was the best chance of escape he had. Sawyer stood in front of his cell. "Stand" he ordered, as Ryden stood his eyes latched on to the iron ball lying just outside his cell, it would have been impossible to grab it now as the armed guard was only a few feet way, he had to wait for his moment. Sawyer fumbled though his keys until he found the one he was looking for. He put the key in the lock and opened the cell door. "Captain Fontain has ordered me to take you to be questioned," said Sawyer. "Has he now, has he really " Replied Ryden "And what will happen if I don't co-operate," "Then I will deal with you myself" said Sawyer, now looking very serious. "Follow me." Sawyer turned and stepped toward the door; Ryden now knew this was his chance. He lunged for the iron ball; Sawyer caught sight of him and spun round, He reached for his sword but it was to late, Ryden smashed him round the face with the iron and Sawyer fell. Knowing it wouldn't be long before someone got suspicious, he quickly searched the fallen guard for anything of value but only found a few spare coins and a steel lock-pick. He heard someone nearby so he picked himself up, dragged the guard into the cell and made a run for the door leading out into the prison grounds.
Captain Fontain was now getting very impatient. He ordered another one of his men to go see what had caused this hold up. 2 minutes later there was a loud knock on Fontain's door. One of Fontain's men came running in. "What is it Darren, I have enough on my hands without another interruption". "Sir, Ryden has gone and Sawyer has been killed," said Darren who was very out of breath. "WHAT" shouted Fontain and he raced toward the cell end of the prison with a slightly out of breath Darren in close pursuit. When he arrived at Ryden's cell he stopped still. In the middle of the cell the corpse of Sawyer lay motionless in a pool of blood on the cold stone floor. Fontain turned toward Darren and told him to send reinforcements. Ryden was not getting away this time.
Ryden made his way quickly across the prison grounds making sure not to be seen by Fontain's men. When he arrived at the back wall of the prison he opened the sack he had taken from Sawyer before he left and took out the steel lock pick, quickly but quietly he picked the lock stopping access to the sewer drains, that lead under the prison and out onto the lake. He removed the bolt and opened the cage; at the far end of the prison he could see Fontain and his men gathering near the prison gate. He gently lowered himself down onto the ladder and descended into the now pitch-black surroundings of the imperial storm drains.
Fontain and his men had gathered together outside the prison gates. "I am going to say this once and once only, Ryden needs to be caught and caught quickly, half of you set up a perimeter around the prison, no one gets in or out, and the other half set up guard around the black lake, Ryden isn't going to escape."

Re: Imperial Runner
There are a couple of run-on sentences and a few fragments. Are they intentional?
