Nah! It's our season for heatwaves!

OK in Sydney, though!

@margo,
So I hear.

The orfspring has his girlfriend out there at the moment, and they're travelling round a lot. The emails seem to have dried up since she arrived, but he hasn't seen her for eight months so we're not that surprised.

Not jealous at all.

@Region Philbis,
I recall when I lived (around '89-'94) near the NH border in Westford, Mass, I recall a temp of -8 or -10 deg F. for the heck of it I just checked their overnight temps and it was - 7 deg F. This is not good! Forecasters say Sunday you guys will be above freezing then Monday it's arctic temps again.

@Ragman,
I think that'll end up making it worse. Right now, we have the snow fairly well contained, and a lot of it is still pretty light (I was just out there, of course). But freezing rain is going to equal impaction. That same 8 lb. or so cubic foot of snow will hit - can't recall where these figures came from, maybe WCVB - something like 24 lbs.

Plus we'll get ice and the piles will slide. Warmer is lovely, but this won't be enough and, like I said, it'll make things worse.

PS Ow.

Regarding all this weather malarky, apparently we have cold Canadian air circulating over and around us at the moment.

Has someone been boiling up sprouts over there, by any chance?

A definite cabbagy odour out there at the moment.

@Lordyaswas,
It's American generosity. Our way of saying 'Thank you!', for having rigged those sailing ships to follow a northerly route rather than heading south.

@Sturgis,
I'm always wary of American generosity.

A GI once gave my Aunty Violet some nylons and chocolates during the blitz, and she ended up producing my cousin Billy Bob.

@Sturgis,
He's out back at the moment, practising the banjo. I'll call him in soon, as his Creatonist group is due to meet in an hour, down at the Jolly Sailor.

39 degree rise in one day just ain't right.
it was 88 on sunday, then dipped into the 50's yesterday afternoon...
