@Rockhead,
I better not get 9" or more! I'm here by myself and have only been ambulatory for a couple days after being down with another back episode for the past week. I don't have any appts after this afternoon so if I have to hunker down for the weekend waiting for a snowplow guy then that's what I'll do.

It looks like we got 3-4" of snow overnight. Not too bad. I parked the car at the end of the driveway near the road so that I'd only have to clear a small area to get out. Not going to try to shovel. I'll just drive over it and let next week's temps in the mid-upper 30s deal with it.

When you saw a car with winter tyres at this time of year in the past, you surely thought that people where going skying in the Alps during the Easter holidays.

Today, it seems that everyone is going there ... not, we still have snow.

However, traditionally this Saturday is the opening of the public outdoor swimming pool season.

New Mexico is supposed to see something highly unusual in the weather over the next couple of days. Usually the winds and storms move from west to east through New Mexico. Over the next several days, it will be reversed and we're supposed to get socked with some heavy rainfall.

WATCH THAT HIGH
July 11th, 2013 at 10:39 pm by Mark Ronchetti under Weather

With high-pressure moving farther to our northeast will lead to a change in the areas that will be hit by storms. Western and central sections of the state will be favored for the heaviest and most frequent rain over the next couple of days. In the Albuquerque area we will pick up afternoon showers in a scattered fashion with highs in the low 90s.

Areas of northwestern New Mexico have best chance to pick up heavier rain as well as southwestern Colorado.

Next week looks to get increasingly interesting. With monsoonal moisture in place a storm may well move east to west from the Midwest toward New Mexico. This could touch off additional storms across a good portion of the state and keep a very good monsoon season going strong.

@Region Philbis,
we've been there all week. Supposed to be pleasantly warm in the mid-80s today and 70s next week. It should get to you soon.

I don't think anyone will notice that I just spent an hour shoveling. It's projected to be 14" here. We've only had about 3" so far.

@jespah,
These extreme weather patterns are here to stay. There's an interesting article in today's newspaper about flood insurance. A lady who lives on an island outside of San Francisco has seen her premium jump from $2k to over $12k. She thought it was a misprint, but after calling the insurance company, found out they were prone to floods. humbug!

@cicerone imposter,
We had (have) 13°C (about 55 F) at 8pm.

And than - like it is at such "summer nights" a heavy thunderstorm.

That actually started nearly exactly as forecasted and shown on the weather warning:
