... and it looks like the left half is doing a lot better than the right half.
Mac - It's hotter than Houston, Miami or Phoenix in NYC - yikes!
It isn't supposed to go below 80 tonight. All that rain Region mentioned did little for the garden at my place. I am running the sprinklers now.... actually, I need to go turn them off.....
It's supposed to cool off in Chicago tomorrow. Only 92 instead of 100.
wednesday will be around 100 (heat index 114) and friday's high might be less than 80! Wow...... I can't wait!

She says from her air-conditioned office!
J_B - it was a weird heat wave - do they always traverse the continent like that?
I think the weather patterns tend to flow from west to east. I'm usually a few degrees warmer than whatever my family in northern VT sees and a day or two earlier.

we have a southern exposure -- almost no shade.
i haven't watered it all year, yet the grass is nice 'n plush...
You must have some good dirt! Our dirt is city dirt with a top layer of 2-3 inches Mahoney's dirt. The grass here could be brown from over-use (3 dogs and us people), but the plants are wilty - even the ones that are more established. Mostly, though the wilty ones are newly transplanted.

even though we have the lake right at out front door , we are restricted to watering every other day from 5 am to 10 am only .
bought one of those fancy water clocks (?) - works sort of like an alarm clock - , i just set it to start watering at 5 am for tomorrow .
haven't had any decent rain for about two weeks ; the rain-clouds sit about 50 miles north of us and are moving towards montreal . they just issued a warning for montreal : take your children and pets inside , move into the basement if you have one , major storm expected .

<nodding> eeyep, it's friggin hot. Just sitting and sweating.
Brown out number 1 just bumped me offline temporarily....... hope everyone has battery backup on their alarm clocks.
funny, wunderground says it's 88 in Boston as of about 1am. Did it get hotter? You'd think they could at least coincide on the current temp.
The heat advisory has been extanded an extra day - through thursday. Ugh.....
02210 is downtown Bahstin, where it "tends" to be a few degrees cooler than points west.
