Look, ooh, pretty colors.

Rain has given way to snow and I'm more than glad that I didn't drive to Northern Middlesex County today.

Tonights forcast.
This has been the wierdest winter on record. We have no snow and the temperature has hovered around zero (32F) for the past 2 1/2 months. In January we had double digit weather (14C/57F).

Edmonton lies on the 53 parellel. Alberta is boardered by the artic and the Rockies. When I was a kid, we'd get so much snow. Drifts of 6ft were not uncommon and neither was snow at halloween. Severak children a year would suffocate in tunnels they'd built. We had to walk to school on the roads because sidewalks were impassable. But each year there is less snow and this year only one c-c-c-c-ooooooooold snap of -20C/-4F. And that's not really cold by our standards. Not that I'm complaining about the lack of frigid air but no snow??? This is just plain weird.

Joe Nation...

The latest forecast shows it will snow in NYC only on the west side from around 145th Street (may start as far south as the lower end of The City College campus) up to the northern edges of Fort Tryon Park and from the Hudson all the way across to 100 feet east of Amsterdam Avenue....enjoy!

From the look of the webcam at TGIFridays (47th ST? and Broadway), it looks like about three inches so far.

We shoveled (thanks Dasha!) and by the time we were done, the area we'd started on had 2-3 inches of snow built back up. But, I think we still came out ahead. Especially if the other peeps get home to re-shovel what falls over the next few hours.
