kayak,

I do not think that is it. But there's one way to find out. Try the steps described.

Here they are in case anyone missed it:

Why does your account get locked?

Well the main reason is because someone has tried to hack your user name and Yahoo! will Lock the account for security reasons.

What you can do about it?

Option 1

Wait 24 hours without logging into your account and Yahoo! will unlock it for you.

Option 2

Go to http://mail.yahoo.com (proviing you have a yahoo email account with the locked id.)
Close Yahoo! Messenger down.
Log into the Yahoo Email Account.
Log the email account out by clicking the logout button.
Log back in on Yahoo! Messenger.

The second fix will only work for some people it does not help everyone unlock their account.

Craven,

I spoke to my ISP , he says he ha not banned access to messenger. I tried from my office pc and i could login. I had read a article in a paper, that to beat the ban by the government one could log on to a particular site and access messenger from there. Do u know the name of the site.

Secondly is there anyone at yahoo i could mail to try and figure out the problem. Any id besided the help id because they just send a standard automated response.

Can u figure out as to why i can login from another machine but cannot login from my home PC.

Thanks

ad071966,

I do not know of a special support address for yahoo. Since they are the most popular site online I can only imagine how hard tech support must be.

There is not just one site that can be used to circumvent a blockage. There are many of these "proxy servers".

Thing is, any nation that blocks sites often blocks proxy servers. So to find one that works you will have to test them. Serahc for "proxy servers" and pick a few to test.

As to why it works on one of your computers but not the other I can't tell from the information you provided.

Do they use different ISPs? Your ISP might not be blocking Yahoo but Yahoo might be blocking your ISP.

You might also try uninstalling the yahoo software on the problematic computer and re-installing it.

Try clearing cookies etc etc.

With the little info I have I can't say what it is but through trial and error you can figure it out (and I can try to help).

Well, not to insult Craven on any issue, I will say it could be hackers (kinda) -- I know someone who knows someone, and they have a program that can gain instant access to Yahoo and hotmail accounts without a problem, no password needed. This doesn't really make the person a hacker, but it dies make mass mailing very available, and I was a victim of it once. I had the exact same problem -- Yahoo became aware that my email address had been used to send 300 copies of smutmail. There was no way to prove it wasn't me, so I had to get a new id -- if there was a worm or trojan on your computer (there are some very hard to detect bugs out -- especially if you were as clueless as I was at the time) then that can send your information to someone else. Jsut kind of another thought, but not necessarily a solution.

Eastree,

Why hack an account to send spam when you can just create a new one to send spam? That makes no sense.

Craven,

I finally got a mail from yahoo support and now i can login to the messenger. But my ISP has said is that chat rooms / groups are banned still. How can i go to a chat room without getting banned.

As i have mentioned earlier as per a newspaper report there is a site starting with A, wherein u can go and then login to the cha room and beat the ban.

Any clue what that site may be ??

If i go in to chat room, can the ISP detect that i am from a particular country and hence ban me.

Or is the ban such that i will not be able to access the chat room at all.

Thanks for the promt advice and help.

They are probably talking about the "Anonymizer" site.

Here is the search I told you to do on Google. There are many such sites and I don;t have one in particular to recommend (as some will work for the chat and others won't):

http://directory.google.com/Top/Computers/Internet/Proxies/Free/

If you use a proxy from another country the IP will be obfuscated.

I have never used most of those sites and I do not use chat rooms so I really have no recomendation. Like I said, start testing them out. Most are sure not to work so you will have to try a few.

yahoo password
I'm having this same problem too. I was in a chat room with yahoo messanger for like 5 minutes and got a red message saying i had been logged out of chat. Now I cannot login to yahoo messenger or yahoo chat, or yahoo web messenger with that yahoo id, but i can still login to my email, account info and other stuff. I tried that ID on another computer and got the same result. I can still login to messenger and everything with my old yahoo ID. Any idea and help would be appreciated.

Yahoo login problems
I too am experiencing reecent problems logging into Yahoo Messenger when I never had problems before. I can still log into mail and games, but not messenger. I've sent numerous emails to yahoo with only one response telling me to change proxy and firewall settings, but I already did that. I wrote back to them again, and now answer.

HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO GET AHOLD OF THE Y! PEOPLE???? Maybe they can restore my ID also.

One thing that will help is not using all caps. If I were manning the Yahoo support lines and had billions of people to give free support to (assuming you, like the hundreds of millions of others, do not pay Yahoo a cent for their services) I would ignore any request that used all caps.

With hundreds of millions of people they are giving a free service to do not expect good support. Support is expensive and unless you are paying them for it whatever you get is out of the kindness of their heart.

To help cultivate said kindness make sure not to use all caps, it's the very basics of being polite online.

Yahoo Messenger Login Problem
I too am having problems logging into Yahoo messenger. I have several ID's and don't have any problem logging in with two of them. The one ID (cyber_bikerx) that I'm having problems with worked in the past but not now. I can still log into Yahoo mail and Yahoo games with that ID and password, just can't log into Messenger.

The problem started after I was in a chat and suddenly got disconnected and received an error message saying I was no longer connected.

I've tried everything on Yahoo's help page, including changing proxy and firewall settings under preferences in Messenger, although I am not behind a firewall and have no proxies.

I've contacted Yahoo several times, only to receive automated responses telling me to change proxy and firewall settings, which I already tried. I can't seem to get through to them that this is not the problem, since their replies are automated. I'd appreciated any help you can give as to resolving the problem or suggestions on how I can contact a real person at Yahoo. My email is [email protected] (which still works) so feel free to send me an email if you feel so inclined. Thanks in advance for your help. Sad BTW, I can't log in using Trillion either.

Oh, I actually meant that the contact to Yahoo would need to be well prepared for them to respond. If they are throwing up a wall with automated replies I don't know if there is a way to get through. They can't answer most of their emails.

Hmm.

Well we can try to troubleshoot but without Yahoo's help we are limited.

What region do you connect from and what ISP do you use?

Yahoo login
Thanks for the reply. I'm in Pennsylvania and have Suscom for an ISP with a cable modem connection. I doubt it's my ISP, since I can logon with my other ID's. I would just use these other ID's, but I have a ton of people on my friends list and can't remember most of their Yahoo ID's, so it's important I get this logon problem resolved. There is one thing I did notice; I no longer had a profile for cyber_bikerx in my messenger folder on my computer. I created a new profile folder copying the items from one of my other ID folders and changing what I needed to indicate cyber_bikerx, but that didn't work. However, I can't be sure that the ID info is the same for all ID's. This is frustrating. Everybody probably thinks I died..lol.

BTW...when I log into Yahoo games under cyber_bikerx and then log into messenger using one of my other ID's that have cyber_bikerx in it's friends list, it shows me online. So I sent myself an IM, and received it in the game room in the games' IM window (it doesn't use the normal messenger window). This tells me my ID is valid, and the only problem is logging in through messenger. As the song goes "If I only had a gun!" lol

This is a really odd one. I am almost sure it's an intentional move on Yahoo's part (and not the regional IP blocking). And that's the bad news because there's not much you can do to fix it without getting Yahoo's attention.

Dunno what to tell ya mate, you are gonna have to get Yahoo's attention somehow, the block is on their end and there's probably no way around it.
