Hi, After getting an error message saying WS2.dll missing, I managed to
download it from wwwdll.com and somehow managed to get it into the
right folder (Or at least I think so).
Now I get the message (ws2.dll help) missing with the bottom line box
stating a start up error.
Please help - in simple terms preferably.
Sincerely
Alan
You need to give more info:
What operating system?
When does the error occur?
Does it happen with certain programs only?
What is the EXACT wording of the error message you mention?
What do you mean by "bottom line box"?
What is the exact wording of the "start up error"?
There are trillions of things that can go wrong with computers. By naming the dll files you ahve narrowed it down only slightly.
Ok, here are my guesses until you give us more info:
I guess that you are using Win 98.
I guess the dll you are now looking for is ws2help.dll
You can
Download ws2help.dll here
It's zipped so you will have to unzip it.
WS2.dll is rarely problematic and notably absent from dll sites, are you sure you got it?
My dll problem
Hello Craven
Thanks for the link, but no succes, I will try again.
Answers to your questions.
windows 95.
It happens only on start up.
I get an error message box Headed: Error Starting Program.
"A required .dll file WS2HELP.DLL was not found.
The symbol with it is the yellow triangle with exclamation mark within.
The row on the bottom is right at the bottom of the screen where the
little icons are.
Thank for your time.
Sincerely Alan
Were you able to download thelink I gave? It is a zipped file so you may need a Winzip program. I can find that for you if you need it.
What happened when you tried to use the link?
dll file
Hello Craven, The link did not work, however I did manage to get dll.com
by typing it in and I downloaded it with Winzip.
I am now trying to get it into the right folder, windows\system I think, --
I am English so I soldier on, on the other hand I may give up.
Regards Alan
It is most likely the windows\system folder that it should be placed in.
