making recovery CD-DVD

when using the compaq recovery CD-DVD maker it always tells me that the DVD I put in is used.It's new so I can't make a backup for my computer.Can anyone tell what's wrong?Thank you

making recovery CD-DVD
My computer is an HP Pavilion, brand new. I've run into the problem that although the Recovery CD/DVD program specifically mentions the option of using DVDs, it actually only accepted CDs, so I had to make 19 of the damn things.

I don't know if the software for Compaq Recovery discs is the same as HP uses; it well might be. So you might try using a CD-R disc instead of the DVD.
