oooh, very good, markr! Those were my two favourites out of the ones I've written so far.
Unsolved: 3, 5, 8.5,
12.
You've probably thrown me, but I'm not a ball
Or a dart or a spear or any object at all.
But like a knife, people won't wanna be
around you when you throw me.
13.
I can be inflated without air,
and deflated without care.
Good! now can you, for number 12, think up another more humorous answer?
This isn't humorous, but how about insults?
hmm, I usually toss insults, not throw them. Admittedly there are a few words close enough to Tantrum to also work, such as "fit," but theres another different answer which is a bit more fun.
I'd say fits are pitched and insults are hurled.
How about up (throw up)?
yep! Up is the alternate answer. I got a kick out of it, anyway.
why are 3, 5, and 8.5 so unloved?
3 uses the answer in multiple senses of the word
5 describes names of different things the answer can do
8.5 should become clear if you really look at everything you come across for a day (when you realize you've flipped upside down, you'll know you've found it)
and before I write anymore of these, I'd like some feedback on what people's favourites and least favourites were and why, so that I can grow as a riddle writer.
Thanks for the hints.
3. light
8.5 spoon?
Both are correct =]
Now only 5 is unsolved. and I still want feedback before I write any more.
1. I like this one. All the clues are relevant.
2. I thought this was so-so. Aren't prince-potential frogs princes that were turned into frogs? If so, they wouldn't have started out as tadpoles.
3. This was tough for two reasons. Carrot is the obvious answer, but for me what made it difficult is that two of the clues refer to non-things.
4. This was a good one - concise with relevant clues.
5. Don't know yet.
6. I like this one. The first stanza seems to offer multiple choices, but the second rules out all but one.
7. This one seemed rather obvious - and a bit bizarre.
8. I'd rate this so-so. Seems like there are other possible answers besides piano keys (zebra, skunk).
8.5 This was tough, but good. The hint made me realize it was a reflection and not a physical inversion.
9. I didn't like this one mainly because of the first, fifth, and seventh lines.
10. I think this one is clever. The whole flight thing is rather misleading, but it makes perfect sense when you know it.
11. Another clever one. The key for me was figuring out what kind of canes you were talking about. Line five helped with that. At that point, line four made it obvious.
12. I came up with tantrum almost immediately, so this one was rather easy. However, if you were looking for up, then it was more difficult. Up is more humorous, but I don't like it for the answer. Another of those non-thing answers.
13. This was another easy one for me - too obvious. It probably took me less than 30 seconds to get both 12 and 13.
I've never been all that keen about riddles (I'm into the math problems), but I've enjoyed yours.
ah, that's what I like to hear! your thoughts mostly coincide with mine. I'm glad you enjoy them.
14.
I'm what makes the ground the ground.
The more of you, the more of me to be found.
I'm the one that makes rain fall,
But you cannot see me at all.
15.
You can easily break me with a hammer
But what you hit with it doesn't matter.
16.
You throw me, you hang me above doors,
I'm underfoot but not under yours.
17.
When you know I'm here, I dissapear.
16. horseshoe
14. gravity?

Markr: both answers are correct.
Lennylamus: none of your new answers are correct.
Unsolved: 5, 15, 17
Is the answer to #5 imagination?
littlek: Nope, not imagination.
I'm starting to regret number 5; there's always the possibility that it's just a sucky riddle. Rather than giving a real clue, I'll just tell you that this next riddle follows a similar idea, but may be easier:
18.
Drank tea, climbed the Eiffel Tower (using J's ladder,)
Then a candle-lit dinner of a fish on a platter,
Paid for it with diamonds, now look into my eye:
Where shall I sleep tonight, and what am I?
19.
People sometimes eat me,
But they never like to.
Infants don't have me,
But it's certain you do.
You can play on me.
What am I, I ask you?
unsolved: 5, 15, 17, 18, 19
Vi, I really like your riddles, but when then depend on well-known or not so well-known sayings I have trouble solving them because English is not my first language.
15. Silence
17. Surprise
19. Pride
Whim: I'd say that not being a native english speaker is a more than fair handicap, considering that you're the one who solves most of the riddles on this forum =]
I'm glad you like mine.
15 and 17 are correct!
19 is not, though I like the answer and the idea behind it. You can swallow pride, but not eat it; and step and stomp on it but not play on it. This one'd be tough since it includes more than one saying in it.
I like that answer so much I'm going to have to write a riddle for it, but I'll save it for later.
unsolved: 5, 18, 19
For 5 and 18 I do not know what to think
Guessing for 18 Thunder storm.
