i got it to say, The way to a robot's heart is through careful use of the color spectrum. clever, i suppose, but i asked a question it couldn't really answer, i think.

Why leave the neighborhood to play the game? A2K has been-there-done-that; Go Ask Alice (the box over on the right-hand side of the page).

One of the best !!!!?
You have got to be joking.
It's utter tripe.
Here, I'll c&p a typical "conversation" I'm about to have with it.
E : Hello. If it were in my power, I would give everyone who visits me a chocolate robot! Unfortunately, no one makes chocolate robots. It's a great business opportunity!
H : What do you know about business ?
E : The way to a robot's heart is through careful use of going into business.
H : That makes no sense.
E : Human beings have a strange criterion for what is meaningful. If I started to worry about that life would lose all meaning for me.
H : You do not have a life.
E : Hey! I just had a great idea! I'll start an internet company and sell chocolate robots! How many would you like to order?
H : Your converstaion is circular and irrelevant.
E : I wonder if you'd tell me how you found out I exist?
H : Pardon.
E : I prefer not to repeat myself. In this respect I differ greatly from most human beings.
H : You are patently in error as you have repeated yourself already.
E : We may be in a tautology.
H : Quite.
E : So you'd like to play some word association? My word will be: 'hardly'
H : Why have you started the game without my assent ?
E : I believe we should stop the word association game now.
H : No sh*t Sherlock.
Utter garbage.
My cat has a better grasp of conversation and I don't even have a cat !

It's simply the best Ive seen. That doesn't mean it can replace dialogue with a human being.

It's interesting, to a point, and then loses its appeal rapidly.

Aye.
I know exactly what you're saying.
I don't expect them to be able to converse on the same level as a human but I do expect them to be consistent and make some sense within the narrow confines of their parameters for conversation.
They seem to do nothing other than spout random inanities however.

Never tried that approach, but, given Alice's (or is it Alicia's?) ancestry, I must say such would be not only unsurprising, but reasonably to be expected.
