Christians are just scared, any time something uncoventional comes into regular society they believe its a striike or a front against there belief. I hear ppl yelling outside of my movie theareter that the movie was herosy and a spit in gods faces....i didnt see anyone protesting the Pasion of the Christ at my theareter

The Passion of Christ was historical in the main, with only lesser details debated, due to their being culled from the revelations of mystics.

I would debate that, there is no- none- zero- ziltch evidence of there even being a Jesus, never mind him getting pinned to a tree.

It was fiction. The documents used were modern forgeries, and the whole thing an attempt to suggest to modern France that some bum should be their "restored" king.

Haven't you heard? There's someone right now in the White House who likely believes he is one of the direct descendants.

No need to shout, especially in bold letters. If you can't get your point across normally, go sit on the potty.

Whether one allows for the chance that there may be among us descendents of Christ or not, I'd like to know why the Christian Church is so offended by such a theory. Wouldn't such great-great-etc grandchildren of God be just the sort of loving and insightful and compassionate individuals this world obviously needs right now? And wouldn't such a logical, grounded, biological "Second Coming" make it easier for even Darwinians and the most logic and scientifically based thinkers to accept and come to know God?

What is it about this concept that threatens the church so? Could it be that such people among us would carry more influence and command more respect than a manmade institution and this is why the possibility of their existence can't be tolerated?

Thoughts anyone?

Hi Maggie!

The way I've heard it explained is:
It belittles God by replacing the divine Jesus with a mere human who taught people in Biblical times.

And like Nick said, it is only a novel/movie that is trying to present itself as being "The Truth".

very true!

Any Christian should be open-minded about their religion anyway. They should just read the book or watch the movie which is purely entertainment. Pardon the exaggeration about the story being entertainment. A novel or story famous for its controversy is all it is.

Not entirely correct. It was actually a Surrealist fantasy, as the "bum", Plantard was a Surrealist. When the Holy Blood and Holy Grail people first aired their little documentary, Plantard paled at the idea and denied everything.

As for Mel Gibson's "Passion of Christ", it's not very historical. It was based on Medieval Passion Plays, which were very anti-Semitic.

ok. what everybody keeps forgetting is that DeVinci Code is a fiction book. it wasn't meant to be taken so seriously as it is.

i've seen the movie and its based on the four gospels.. but i did see one or two small parts that had more a catholic undertone...Im not really familiar with the Passion plays during medieval times except that this accusation was thrown out when the Passion came out...also the website for the Passion states its taken from the four gospels

If any history is to be believed, which it has to be since it stares us in the face every day, then the Priory of Sion, the Knights Templar, and the Illuminati are all factual " groups". The interpretation of a fictional novel is down to the individual. I didn't read the book, but I watched the film twice and I think it makes some interesting and thought-provoking points. However, even though there are some truths in the story, truth is relative and subjective.

Taken seriously the da Vinci code is a wasp's nest, but why not take it for what it is - entertainment.
