laptop cooling fan not working

I noticed that I don't ever hear the cooling fan running and the laptop feels pretty hot. Is this a software/driver problem or do I need to have someone look at it?

Prolly best to haul it to a shop. However, a couple things you might wanna try first -

use the extension wand of a vacuum cleaner on both the intake and outlet for the fan

Consult the machine's owner's manual (prolly available on line at the vendor's webite, if you don't have the print version any more) - there's likely a fan control setting, and it may have somehow gotten set to "Off"

If neither of those do you any good, I'm afraid its very likely screwdriver time.
