Not in all things are we allowed a coup,
But in the desperate tries, we find a few
That settle quietly and hide within the petals
Of a book.
and once we get the feel and sense of time,
We close our eyes and let the pages fall
Open.
There it is--that thing accomplished,
And leaping from out the print they are
Small spans that become mammoth bridges
to another attempt,
Though still unkempt.
Neat, Letty!
Is the housework getting you down? Finding refuge only in the escape of fiction
I agree. Within the hallowed 'walls' * of sharing, find we our place, our grace and some space.

Good job.
Hi, Jackie, and thanks for your observations. You had an interesting take on this poem. Actually, it really had nothing to do with housework or escape into fiction. What made you think that?
Glad you still hanging around, though
..."the petals of a book" .... Very nicely put, Letty.
You just reminded me of how much I miss getting lost in a good read ..... One of the great joys of life ... So busy these days there just isn't enough time for it.
Msolga, thanks, my friend. As I told Jackie, the poem really isn't about reading, although I did use the metaphor. Hey, gal. Keep busy. It's good for 'ya.
Ah, Letty, Friday night & my brain has obviously turned to sludge!
I just read your words again ... To do with the treasured, special moments/achievements we remember? Hmmmm .... Excuse me if I'm way off the mark! But I always enjoy reading your words.
Msolga, believe me I do know the feeling.
Truly Letty, I see many avenues in your poem. Pictures of family-
confessions to a diary- triumphant successes in your profession;
great moments leaping out above others-
comparisons of lesser degrees to Grand ones, (moments that is).
Such records, along with pressed floral offerings and leaves, are found in the 'petals of a book'.
Whatever and however it is on your heart and mind, it is a fanciful piece of prose---- food for thought.
(It is good to be hanging around- reading).
Letty, as usual, your words are deep and searching.
It left me thinking of the small truimphs we all need when we have no chance of winning in a big way--usually because life interferes.
With patience, the small triumphs can sometimes lead to major accomplishments in the most unexpected ways. At least, that's been my experience in life.
Whatever your meaning, your poetry is like any art, the beauty and significance are valid for more than one interpretation.
Jackie, it would be a treat to read more of your poetry.
ah, Diane. They are calling you on fbaezer's thread...
Thank you, my friend.
