Well, just wanted to make certain, honey. You can be quite subtle with your hints. How about France, then.

This man was an Army officer as well as a lawyer...and later federal attorney.

Would it be a general during the Civil War in the U.S., Francis?

I was thinking General Burnsides, Francis, but I am having trouble with the images on Google. I will keep trying, however.

Booth? Shocked Well, Francis, I am certain that it's not J.W. and the only other General Booth of whom I am reminded started the Salvation Army.

Did he serve under Grant?

I'm certain it is...

I think our man didn't serve under Grant but I'm no Civil War expert.

New hint: New York.

Wow! I am thrown off a bit by Fracis having acknowledged that it was John Wilkes Booth. Perhaps I misread that statement.

OK, I know the answer now, but I won't give it away since I had to look it up. I wasn't familiar with that person, so I don't feel it would be fair to give the answer.

Francis, clear something up for me. The General's name was Booth, right?

Did you indicate that it WAS John Wilkes Booth? There is someone named Sherman Booth. I am a little confused.
