The point Snood, is the monumental waste of time Newton spent pursuing nonsense of a religious nature. It seems my pointing that out is spot on for this thread.

I'll be happy to listen to reasons his endeavors in sleuthing about the Bible for hidden messages were ultimately good for humanity. Maybe you can convince me that if Ghandi or MLK also decided to spend less time on social causes and more time with their noses in a moldy book fiddling with say, Biblical numerology, that their efforts were not in vain.

That is my point, and I believe it is valid.

Of course it is - some may have been hindered by religion. I only take exception to when I perceive a broad brush being used, that paints all of religion as an "anchor" to all.
