Church Service
There are songs you hear as you wander near
the heavens above this glen
You must be careful and ever prayerful
Or the spirit will draw you in
The closer you fly to the blue of the sky
The more fully the chords fill your ears
Until you are singing notes angels are bringing
That only disciples can hear.
Sweet windswept hymns to bough and limb
Psalms of heights unmeasured
Hosannas that ring as sparrows sing
Of roots and leaf-green treasure
Secrets are shared on the lyrical air
In notation no human transposes
In rapt adoration earth's last congregation
Kneels worshiping thistle and roses
Communion is offered from nature's vast coffer
The green-winged orchid takes flight
A last benediction more wondrous than fiction
As moonlight baptizes the night.
