Got horrible reviews:
Quote: "Someone should call The Ghostbusters to make An American Haunting disappear from movie theaters like a ghost is expelled during an exorcism."
Quote:"More like "An American Hanging." It slips a big noose of banality around its audience's necks and then tightens the rope until unconsciousness sets in."
I thought it looked pretty good untill I read these.
Anyone see it?
Nope.
It was tempted but then thought how different is it gona be from other spooky films.
A bit of tension and somebody looking a bit scared does not a horror movie make.
If you want to consider box office, I always wait until the following weekend to see if a film drops off dramatically which will always tell you if word-of-mouth isn't working for the movie and audiences are staying away. This film is at around $11M on its first weekend.
That is a good idea, LW. I usually don't like going the opening week anyway... I hate going to crowded movie theaters. Too much talking.
