@Roberta,
Not exactly that but pretty close, Boida.

The Indian giant squirrel is a Ratufa Indica while the Black giant squirrel is a Ratufa Bicolor..

They are all Oriental giant squirrels.

@Roberta,
Is it a type of finch, or maybe a Grosbeak?

@rosborne979,
Not a grosbeak. And it's described as having a finch bill, but it's not a finch.

Hint: Think Pacific island.

@Roberta,
Hmmm, so far all I've got is that it's a yellow headed bird from a pacific island with a finch-like beak. Maybe a different picture of the same type of bird would help. Or if I could see more if the foliage I might be able to identify the plants and narrow the geography.

@rosborne979,
I'm having a terrible time finding another picture that doesn't have the name of the bird in the url.

So I'll narrow down the geography for you--Hawaii.

Hawaii was the first pacific isle I started with Smile But I'll have another go at it later when I get a chance.

OK, so I had to look up Loxioides bailleui. I did, and you're right, Francis. It's a palila. Highly endangered.

@Francis,
Easier for you, maybe.

I've been looking around, trying to place this. I thought maybe some kind of grouse. But the birds in the pictures have mustaches!

I could use a hint.

@Francis,
I hear Whippoorwill's in the woods behind my house every night. They are very loud and persistent. I'm tempted to go stomping through the woods with a flashlight to see if I can see one, but the mosquitos would feast on me.

If anyone else wants to jump in to post a new creature, go ahead. I'll be away from the computer for a while today.

@Roberta,
Sorry, Roberta, it's really unusual I take something from anybody..

As it's almost bedtime here, you should have a go with another picture, Boida..
