Big fleas have little fleas
Upon their backs to bite them
And little fleas have lesser fleas
And so ad infinitum.
Written by
Robert W. Hegner
Some how in the back of my mind (never a reliable source) I thought it was Jonathan Swift.
I thought it was Ogden Nash.
Just looked it up, evidently his "Fleas" poem is, in its entirety:
Adam
Had 'em.
Looks like you were kinda right, Acquiunk:

Doesn't
Adam
Had 'em
refer to microbes?
Well, it's entitled "Fleas."
Whole thing, with title:
Fleas
Adam
Had 'em.
Well kinda' Sozobe but it wasn't exactly Joe's post either. The problem is I do not know who Robert Hegner is. Apparently, according to Googel he was a parasitologist so he very will could have written that version.
Well, I'd like to apologize to Jonathan Swift. I found this source this morning
NANFA (?) but it occurs to me now that I've had more sleep that the writer in the link was confused and Hegner was quoting Swift in his book.
