How does "Amigo" sound for the mutt? I like "Amber" even more because she is an opaque yellow amber color.

BBB, she can't call it Amigo. He is a well regarded A2K'er, but I have seen his photo.

Talk about ugly.

I saw a blurb about him in Sunday's NYT -- looked good!

Congrats on the new addition, she looks like a sweetheart. We're edging ever-closer to getting a dog... my goal is next spring.

well, i had NO plans of getting another dog.

After princess died, i just couldnt do it.

And, im truthfully NOT a big dog person. I like cats.

But buttercup.. for some reason.. I couldnt get her out of my head after I would visit my cousin.
And she was always right at my heels anytime I was around.

When he said he had to get rid of her, I didnt even ASK Ian, I just said yes.
Ian felt the same way.

I've used "Buttercup" as a secondary name for every dog I've owned.

Quote:
From the album "H.M.S. Pinafore"

For I'm called Little Buttercup -- dear Little Buttercup,
Though I could never tell why,
But still I'm called Buttercup -- poor little Buttercup,
Sweet Little Buttercup I!

I've snuff and tobaccy, and excellent jacky,
I've scissors, and watches, and knives;
I've ribbons and laces to set off the faces
Of pretty young sweethearts and wives.

I've treacle and toffee, I've tea and I've coffee,
Soft tommy and succulent chops;
I've chickens and conies, and pretty polonies,
And excellent peppermint drops.

Then buy of your Buttercup -- dear Little Buttercup;
Sailors should never be shy;
So, buy of your Buttercup -- poor Little Buttercup;
Come, of your Buttercup buy!

Gilbert And Sullivan

My dogs are excellent listeners, but always a bit perplexed because they "can never tell why."

Furthermore, before Buttercup started catering to the British Fleet, she was a baby farmer.

Not that your Buttercup would confuse Bean with any other child, of course.

for some reason, that opening paragraph

Quote:
A many years ago,
When I was young and charming,
As some of you may know,
I practised baby-farming

just made me laugh so hard, I scared both Bean and Buttercup..

Quote:
Baby-farming was a term used in the Victorian era to mean the taking in of infants for a small payment, with an understanding that nursing care would be provided; improper treatment is usually implied. Illegitemacy, and its attendant stigma, were the impetus for this practice.
It was more profitable for the infant to die, since the small payment could not cover the care of the child. Some women were caught murdering these children, and were executed. Margaret Waters and Mary Hall were two infamous baby farmers.

More recently, the term has been used to describe the sale of eggs for use in in vitro fertilization.

Yeah, I kind of like Buttercup. She's got a nice buttery coloring too, so it fits.

But if you want something along the lines of a blonde bitch, how about Madonna?

her name really does fit her personality.

today was her first full day with me and we played ball ( no leash! ), went for a walk with Jillian, put them both in the tub.. not at the same time of course. Laughing

She even NAPS!

and just as calm and cool the whole time.

I cant posiibly think of anything else to call her.

Madonna.. that would be an insult to Buttercup.. Laughing

I think Buttercup is a wonderful 'official' name.

Soon enough, you'll be posting in my favourite thread

ever, here at A2K. ....
