MY CHEVY VAN IS HOME FOR LOVE

She's gonna love me in my Chevy van
and that's all right with me.
a Chevy van,
not a pickup,
not a limo,
just a regular Chevy van.
Warm and comfy we will be,
parked out by a redwood tree,
no one can see,
no one can hear,
we've got a blanket and some beer.
I think I'll park it over there
There's lottsa moonlight goin' spare
Parked up here on top the hill
Lookin' down the town looks still
Radios playing lovin' tunes
We'll be nestin' like 2 spoons
The Chevy van is long and wide
Stretchin' out our lovin' tide
Waxing strong, we can't go wrong
Clasped together, first time ever
Now she's shivering fit to bust
Is it nerves or is it cold
Me it's simple carnal lust
She's 18 , I'm 21
Her love has yet to open wide
Me a total heavy lover
Kissing lips, furtive hands
I sigh with joy & pleasure
As she suddenly finds my.....
Her hand is quickly snatched away
She murmers sweetly as we kiss
Then shrinks away, I find her ......
Doubts for her
Desires for me
But this is 1955
and rules and morals
must be observed.
My fly front zipped
Her shirt is buttoned
Lovin tunes turn into news
Brooklyn Dodgers 6, Milwaukee Braves 3 at Ebbets Field
One deflated Chevy van

Wow, John. The taboos of the teens, reminds me of Jeri Southern's "You Better Go Now." Do so wish I could remember the lyrics to that one.

Here's part of them, anyway:

You'd better go now,
You've got the skin I love to touch,
I love you so now.

that was a girl's way of saying " I want you, but it just ain't right"

Remember this one better:

when I fall in love,
It will be forever,
Or I'll never fall in love.

In a restless word like this is,
Love is ended before it's begun,
and too many moonlight kisses,
Start to fade in the heat of the sun.

When I give my heart,
It will be completely,
Or I'll never give my heart.

And the moment that I feel you can feel that way, too.
Is When I give my heart to you...

Ah, those were the days of fade to black.

P.S.
Jeri Southern was more popular in England than she was the U.S. Recorded for Musica... Smile

John, I'd been posting in politics and knew that I needed something to cheer me up before going to bed (talking about GW can guarantee nightmares).
Here you were when I needed you most!! MY hero!!
Yes, those were the days. Making out, first base, etc. Oh the memories.
Wish I'd been naughtier!!
Hmm, I do remember a certain 58 Chevy and those incredible desert nights in Arizona; oh my, yes, sweet dreams are guaranteed.....
Goodnight to you and your Chevy van, sweet John. Smooch!

Ah Diane. Memories are made of this and the Chevy has become a Nissan. You don't strike me as ever being a naughty person Diane. Times change and joints creak, but a smooch need not be far away.

Oh John, that's where corresponding only online leaves lots unknown. I should have been naughtier than I was, but I still did my share of fooling around. Of course, I have to admit that some of what I did was simply stupid!
The fifties and early sixties were such a strange time to grow up. The movie Far From Heaven brought so many memories back. Now that I'm sixty, I can see how absurd so many of those constraints were, not to mention the ugliness of racism (which is still with us to a great extent) and the passive role of women.
Yes, I should have been MUCH naughtier--which I was when I moved to San Francisco in 1964!!!

Your poem is a treasure, the memories so real to anyone who lived in those days.

It was about 1956- In a light green Studebaker. We were out in a field, making out like crazy. Nothing that Bill Clinton would call "sex". When I came home, I found, to my chagrin, that I was covered with mosquito bites...........everywhere!

The 60s brought massive and rapid changes in many areas of life and society. Good and bad, fun and misery. People made choices, often totaly unaware of the consequences.
I didn't do drugs simply coz I never got into that scenario. I worked for various TV companies on quiz shows, soap operas, cop dramas, political progs and other things. It was a great life, hardly a real job at all. It was a social thing as much as work. Wine, women and song. How many times did I wake up and say never again ? Probably far too many. Mistakes becomes hindsight, which becomes history and is then forgotten. As the 70s unfolded I gradualy slowed down and eventualy got married and became a father. That really concentrates the mind

Oh, my Gawd, Phoenix. I love it. The scars of love don't just belong to the heart. Very Happy

I was soooooooooooooo noble as a young girl. I remember telling one guy who made advances in a parked car, " NO! I respect my parents too much." Later that night after he brought me home, I thought, "Why in the world did you make such a stupid remark." Worse than John's reference to baseball scores.

Gen, What in the world is a Yoda? Razz

Sorry, John. Didn't mean to answer for you on your own thread. Embarrassed

I love these lyrics from Bat out of Hell #2 Very tongue in cheek I think, though it is full of teenage fears and angst.

When the wind is howling through your window pane
It's not the only pain of the night
You're burning up in your bed, you got a fever of love
And there's not an anti-body in sight

Hey Jenny, Jenny, why are you crying? There's a beauty of a moon in the sky
But I guess when you've been leading such a sheltered life
You never lift your head and look so high
You don't have a lot, but it's all that you've got
And you can turn it into more than it seems
Just give it a shot, fantasize every movement
And imagine every inch of your dream

No one said it had to be real
But it's gotta be something you can reach out and feel now
It ain't right, it ain't fair
Castles fall in the sand and we fade in the air
And the good girls go to heaven, but the bad girls go everywhere
Good girls go to heaven, but the bad girls go everywhere
Somebody told me so, somebody told me now I know
Every night in my prayer, I'll be praying that the
Good girls go to heaven, but the bad girls go everywhere
When the sweat is sizzling on your skin in the dark
And you're desperate now for somewhere to turn
Every muscle in rebellion, every nerve is on edge
And every limb has been erotically burned

Hey Johnny, Johnny, why are you shaking?
When a boy should do whatever he can
You've been nothing but an angel every day of your life
And now you wonder what it's like to be damned
You don't have a lot, but it's all that you've got
And you can turn it into more than it seems
Just give it a shot, fantasize every movement
And imagine every inch of your dream

No one said it had to be real
But it's gotta be something you've been wanting to feel now
It ain't right, it ain't fair
Castles fall in the sand and we fade in the air
And the good boys go to heaven, but the bad boys go everywhere
Good boys go to heaven, but the bad boys go everywhere
Somebody told me so, somebody told me now I know
Every night in my prayer, I'll be praying that the
Good boys go to heaven, but the bad boys go everywhere
Every time I try and dream you, I can't believe how hard it's been to
Conjure up your face and trace your body in the air
All the seconds go on forever, but the thirds and fourth ones are even better
Everytime I do it just a little bit longer
Everytime I dream, it's just a little bit stronger than real life

Phoenix covered with mosquito bites, hee, hee. Like John, I want to know if there were any love bites mixed in with all those other bites.

John, I'm not familiar with the group, but I like the lyrics. Heaven can wait--I'd rather go everywhere first. I've always wanted to be a bad girl, but, at sixty, I'd probably poop out before it got really interesting. Sigh.

Diane, I think we should tread with care re. Phoenix's bites. The lady is a firebird and she could scorch our locks and tresses.
Curiosity didn't do the cat any favors.
Letty it's fine, you can tread on my thread.

John, remember, I've met Phoenix in person. You're right, we need to tread softly. She may be little, but she's ferocious! Ooo, hooo.
