Does anyone else enjoy watching Ice Curling. It is my favorite team sport at the Olympics. It's like chess on ice.

The better question would be "Does anyone not watch curling?"

Love to watch curling.

Wish I was better at it. It's a surprisingly physically demanding sport. I've played in work-sponsored bonspiels a few times over the past decades - if you're not well-prepared physically, you'll be in agony after a day or two of curling. <ouch ouch ouch>

Sweeeeeeep!!!

I dropped a rock on my foot once, that hurt too. I'm not so good either. I do have a blast when I play though.

Ha!

I'll match you a dropped stone and raise you this ...

The first time I played in a bonspiel, I'd never even really watched curling. So, they say, pick up the stone, yes that thing, throw and slide. I'm first up - I throw sort of and then slide - hanging onto the stone.

People were leaning over the rink sides to watch me. Embarrassed

BBB, the sportscaster in my hometown ended each broadcast with

"If you can't play a sport, be one".

I'm trying to make good on that suggestion

Nope I can't top that. LOL

(just a quick aside, then I promise I'll go back on topic)
Beth...Roy (Bim) Forbes new radio show called Roy's Record Room. It begins tonight @ http://www.ckua.org/

BBB, up here, we just call it curling. No ice in the title needed. Just like skating, it just is what it is. Very Happy

I was completely unaware of Curling until the Olympics included it as a sport.

Does that make me a doofus?

Ceili, I got an email from Roy about that - I signed up with him to try and get Snap, Crackle, Pop back into the CBC holiday programming. I'll be listening online tonight.

Hi there,

Just a quick note to let you know about a couple of things.

First of all, I'll be on CBC Radio One's Sounds Like Canada with Bill
Richardson on Friday morning sometime between ten and noon. We'll be
talking about my new album (OK, it's a CD) and my upcoming show at the Vancouver East Cultural Centre in Vancouver (Friday night, April 28) .

Secondly, (sound the trumpets!) Paul Grant and I have just received word that Snap Crackle Pop will make a return visit to CBC Radio One on the morning of July first from six to nine AM. Great, eh? I'm planning an All Canadian show for the occasion and any suggestions (as long as they're on vinyl or shellac) are welcome. I'll send out an update closer to the time.

Again, thanks for the passionate e-mails you sent to Toronto in late
December. I believe they made a difference.

My weekly CKUA show 'Roy's Record Room' is in full swing now but has taken a couple of weeks off during CKUA's semi-annual fundraiser . I'll be in Edmonton for the end of fundraiser and will do the May 8 edition of RRR 'live' from Edmonton's CKUA studios. Should be fun. That's Monday evening, 8 to 9, Mountain time. You can tune in online. Just click here.

www.ckua.com

As well, I'm putting together a separate RRR mailing list. Please let me
know if you'd like to be included.

The new album is doing well, thanks. We have lots of related album stuff on my website if you need to have a look.

And, again, thanks for your SCP support, gang. I'll be getting back to you
closer to July one.

Cheers and wah-wah-hoo!

Roy
