Do you mean a literal 'heaven' after you die?
I always included the 'heaven' of moral goodness, right conduct, and mental integrity with what religion has to offer.
It's the promise of a light at the end of a potential dark tunnel (hell or simply reality).
Take that promise away, and I think you'd lose a lot of followers. Few people are willing to carve out their own path through the jungle. You can die in dat there jungle!! It's not sissies.

I just wanted to commend the creator of this thread...I found it refreshing and interesting (without much drama).
