THE DANCE
Alone on the beach, the beauty of the full moon on the ocean held me entranced.
As the moonbeams drifted down, their light didn't reflect off the surface; instead, the waves seemed to eagerly lift up, capturing the shimmering moonlight, letting it spread like wildfire with stunning intimacy inside each wave.
Each ripple trembled with pleasure as the glow illuminated every curve and crest, dancing with every motion.
Only the moon and the ocean could move and dance like this. Two bodies intertwined so closely that fish could swim through, unaware of the intimacy caressing each scale and delicate fin.
The light and passion were spent in the foam of the breaking waves and slowly, slowly, the moon glided off to the quiet place where dolphins sleep.
And the darkened ocean sighed, yearning for the next dance.
Hi Diane --- That is lovely, full of emotion and gentility. You bring out all the magic of beaches.
I love walking along the sands and exploring the rock pools.
When my daughter was a kid we'd build sand castles and I'd get buried in the sands, as happens too dads. Strolling along and taking the dog on an adventure is great fun, skimming stones and throwing a ball. Watching him splashing thru the tide
It's a nice bracing day with a clear sky and gentle wind that brings a red flush to the old cheekbones and a spring to your step.
And if you have the "right person" with you, it can do wonders for the heart.
Thanks, John. That is one of those memories that will always remain fresh.
I agree it is great fun to have a dog along on a good beach day. They have such pure joy that it can't help but rub off on anyone nearby.
I know you had the 'right person' with you on your recent holiday at the beach. I can almost see the glow.
Hi Diane,
I have a whole
yellow bucket of shells from the beach. (and I only picked up one, my sis and freinds collected them.)
Your prose of the Oceanic Dance is VERY
romantic. Thanks for the
gentle, peaceful smile.
SUNTANNED
Thanks Jackie. It was an incredibly romantic evening--too bad I was alone out there. Sigh.
Mapleleaf, are you finished following?
It was beautiful, and it was full of sexual imagery.
It was incredibly romantic, even sexual, in the way the light filled the sea. Amazing to see it alone, yet it would have been so much better had I not been alone.
Next time take me with you
Yr writing always leaves me with my mouth open with wonderous amazement. Its good that no one sits infront of my office - else they would have taken it as some sort of signal
Seriously though, u get better and better...I am gonna share it with "D" if you don't mind.
Gautam, sweet thing, share it with anyone, but you need to tell me who "D" is.
It took me a long time to be able to get up the nerve to post here. The words of encouragement I've had have made all the difference.
I wish you could be with me. It is a magical sight.
Gosh. I feel like a bit of an idiot. Anyone who can traverse with such apparent ease and command two so violently different landscapes of experience as you have in these poems that I've only now had the wit to read...well, it gives me pause.
To say that I enjoyed these would be to utter only partial truth.
More please...!!
Mr trips, kind words, indeed!
@Diane,
Still as lovely and invoking of emotion as the day you posted this, Diane.
I miss your writing.
Btrflynet, You really brought back some memories by renewing this old thread.
It is nice to remember that it was well recieved.
