#2 I don't believe this is possible (or the program I just wrote to solve this sort of problem doesn't work)

If the last 18, should have been 19 then:

(66 * (18 / 6)) - (17 - 19) = 200

whimsical was close because the question should have been:

67?18?6?17?18=200 whose answer is:

67 * 18 / 6 + 17 - 18 = 200

So you can submit that to Reader's Digest.

TRYAGAIN - How did you get the three numbers: a. 184 b. 146 and c. 46. What is the methodology, like how are the number interrelated, i.e., 10 times one number plus some constant give the next number?

Answer is b. 46
(the next 2 numbers in the series would be 24 then 8 where it ends)

reasoning: add a multiplication sign between the last 2 digits
3692 -> 738 ---------> 584 -------> 232 -------> 46 ------> 24 ------>8
369*2 = 738; 73*8 = 584; 58*4 = 232; 23*2 = 46 4*6 = 24; 2*4 = 8

Congratulations Doc, you have just cracked one of the last unsolved problems. That was the best first post I have ever had the privilege to read. I hope you stay around and perhaps post a few questions yourself.
