A friend asked me the other day, being quite religious myself I thought I would be able to tell him... but I can't for the life of me remember his name.
Please someone help, it would be very kind.

That's me.
Or maybe St. Francis of Assisi
Francis warn't no sissy . . . that's just rude . . .
Blessing the animals = St. Francis, I'd say.
Hi IFKGotten,
Welcome to A2K, it's nice to meet you
I agree with Gus and Jespah that it is St Francis Of Assisi.
Regards, Butterfly
Yes indeed it is St. Francis.
The name of the painting is "St. Francis Preaching To The Birds" and it was painted in the late 13th century.
And is that St Clare behind him?
Preaching to the birds, hey?
I guess he had some pretty strong wine that day.

All right, all right, so it is St Francis Of Assisi.

This is the fifteenth of the twenty-eight scenes (twenty-five of which were painted by Giotto) of the legend of Saint Francis, in the Upper Church, San Francesco, Assisi, Italy - the most published of those frescos and the most famous showing St. Francis.
When I first saw it, I allready suspected Francis of Assisi. The man is dressed in a monks robe.
Nevertheless the knowledge of all those A2Kérs, especially Walter's info, is astounding.
Hmm... a nice halo... Those have been out of style for centuries, high time they become a fashion item again...
