Problems with Fable: The Lost Chapters

In attempting to run Fable: The Lost Chapters, I get this error:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

(file extension to) Fable.exe

The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

I feel like I've seen this before, can someone please explain what this sort of error usually means?

For reference, I did try re-installing the program, and I've ended up getting the same error every time.
