Anybody have a favorite? Why? What about it makes it the best?
I happen to favor the Linksys/Cisco products - always had fair luck with 'em, and its what I use in my own network. Inexpensive, versatile, stable, easy to configure, decent range, especially with high-gain aftermarket antennas, I think they're a good value. Hawking is great stuff too; don't own any, but I've installed a bunch. It tends toward the upper end of the price spectrum, but you pretty much get what you pay for. Given the slight differences in pricing, I'd say go with a multi-protocol-capable unit, ie 802.11 a/b/g - just to keep current with what's available now and coming down the pike in the not-too-distant future.
