Mapleleaf, I cannot see the smurf as something negative. I grew up with the smurfs (schluempfe in German) and think they are a very happy community :-)

One thing i loved about the film, "No Mans' Land" was that the combatants referred to the hamstrung and therefore useless UN soldiers as "Smurfs".
