The system clock is unique but how does it work? I shut down my PC at 1 pm and when I start it again at 6 pm the system time shows 6 pm . How does it happen? I mean the computer was out of power for 5 hrs. So how does the system know the amount of time that has passed?

hi bobrath
the mother board of your computer has a separate power supply like the battery from a watch that keeps the time ticking over.
