<AHEM>...BRITS ARE BEST ...(but boring, apparently).....

Britain has been voted the world's favourite country. A survey of 26,000 people in 35 different countries found that Britain was ranked highest in a range of categories, from sport and culture to politeness.
The French, on the other hand, were named as the rudest people in the world, and the Americans (USA) the most ignorant and most ambitious.

The poll, by Anholt Nation Brands Index, revealed that British citizens are considered the most well educated -- though also, sadly, the most boring.

HOORAH (I think).

WORLD RANKING

1. UK
2. Switzerland
3. Canada
4. Italy
5. Sweden
6. Germany
7. Japan
8. France
9. Australia
10. United States

"HOORAH (I think)."

Steady on old chap!
Magnanimity is called for... and possibly a discrete toasted teacake.

Absolutely!

.....and just to prove that I, for one, am not boring, I will celebrate by re-organising my stamp collection and drinking a cup of hot malted milk.

I may even have a biscuit or two.....

Fig roll.

Francis, I would say that you are one of the most polite members of A2K.
Your fellow countrymen may suck, but you're OK by me.

francis ---- of course you can join in, but please bring some vin rouge, camenbert, a carton of gauloises & some of that crusty fresh bread the french are so good at........................

Have you been to EuroDisney Francis ? I took wife & daughter there when it first opened. Quite a contrast to the rest of the country. I rather like Britany myself. It get's a bit to hot for me down south

OAK - Maybe some of us are rude but many have savoir-vivre. I always bring what is needed.

I know EuroDisney pretty well. I've been there dozens of times, either privately or professionally.

My mate (Smudge) works there. He is a sound engineer.
My favourite area is where my brother lives (Ain) down by the Swiss border. France is truly a wonderful country, apart from Chirac and Le Penn.
We (my brother and I) are chucking money at a farmhouse near Charolles, in the hope of living the good life one day. When it is all finished, it should sleep twenty odd people, so I am thinking of arranging an A2K meet there one day.

I think I can find twenty odd people here that will come down, don't you?

........most of them are odd when I come to think of it.

Francis, I've been over to France many times. I've found the people to be just fine. It seems to me that when I go there if I make the effort to speak French, not that I'm very good at it, then the people are ever ready to be helpfull & friendly.
What I like is the fact that France is so very different to England. The Uk & the USA are so similar.
France is a challenge & keeps a visitor on their toes.

It depends, CJ.....would you enjoy drinking Macon Rouge, eating Chevre cheese and looking at cows for a week?

As we are renovating the place, you could always assist me in a bit of stripping in the back room.

Well, I am not particular fond of cows, but drinking Macon Rouge and eating cheese for a week sounds devine.

I don't mind assisting either, I'll bring my tassels with me...
aehm, tools that is.
