That pretty much fully fits the symptom list of the
Blaster Worm, also discussed at length on an A2K thread beginning
HERE.
First thing you've gotta do is abort the shutdown. Click
Start> Run.
In the open box (clear it first if anything is already there), type, without the quotes, "
shutdown -a"
Note the space between "shutdown" and "-a", and don't forget to place the dash ("-") immediately in front of "a"
Click "OK" or hit <ENTER>. That oughtta keep your machine from entering that reboot loop.
Next, I recommend you run the
Microsoft Malicious Software Tool
Other tools that should deal with this are:
Symantec W32.Blaster.Worm Removal Tool
Webroot Software MSBLAST REMOVER
F-Secure Lovsan/Blaster Tool
McAffee/Avert STINGER
It is highly unlikely that is the extent of your machine's problems. It might be a good idea to see
THIS TOPIC and follow the proceedure listed there, posting back here with the resulting logs and reports.
