My laptop (Windows XP) has stopped playing cds and dvd's - doesn't recognise anything I put in, just spins around for a bit then nothing comes up.
Have looked in the Device Manager and it says..
Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)
So it's not the driver.. and the troubleshooter doesn't help - says I already have adequate hardware... just seems to have gone missing!! Bums.
Any ideas how/if I can fix this?
Thanks.
Hit - START - My Computer, and you should see a list of all your drives.
Right mouse click to highlight the drive, it will open a menu. Left click on - Properties, that menu should have a tab - Auto Play. Left click on the V for ?'drop down menu and make your choice.
If you don't find your drive listed, I would suggest you open - Control Panel, and - run - Add Hardware.
If that doesn't work, check the back of the sofa, I find a lot of my missing stuff down there.
Hmph. Still mo work but thanks all the same :-)
Hmm.. Behind the sofa... nothin' but slug pellets
