Rain on a tin roof

Rain on a tin roof-

If you want to throw a pebble on my roof, do it by the bucket loads
The rain massages me to sleep so it can whisper in my ears
I wake, like the air today my head clears

Tin roof is corregated with lines and shed numerous tears-
When dropped, they beat in tune with natures music
I am protected when sleeping yet welcome the intrusion

Rain on a tin roof can sound like a buckets of stones being emptied on it.
And you really feel as if the skies have opened on you. But as you suggest it can be a comforting sound, once you are used to it. Your poem has some good ideas but the rhyme-scheme needs to be worked on.

This reminds me of a story I heard about WC Fields.

He always slept best when it was raining, and he could hear it on the roof.

At the end of his days, he would lie in bed, a much pain, and say to his long time companion.....I wish it would rain so I could sleep.

They were somewhere in California where it did not ran often.

Then, suddenly, it would shower almost every day. The sound would sooth him and he would tell his love how much better he felt.

It was her standing outside in the garden, with a hose. She would spray the water on the roof so it would drip in front of his window, so he could rest.
