He's puking basically liquid which smells like sperm (i'm not kidding).

Our vet will not be available for another 24 hours or so.

Has anyone experienced this? All & any advice gratefully received.

Yes, which is no help at all. Sometimes they're sick, sometimes (really) they just puke. Sometimes, they're passing hairballs.

As I said, no help.

You don't have an emergency vet? There has to be an emergency hospital around. If you are very concerned, flip through your phone book and find them.

My wife telephoned our vet. If he's still ill tomorrow morning, we'll bring him in. (It's almost 9pm here).

He's asleep right now.

Thanks Bella & Roger.

Hopefully, all will be well by morning. He just looks so miserable - not his normal self at all.

Couple of thoughts....

Watch to see if he vomits again, and if an forgien object like thread or something comes out.

Check out the feces in the litter box too, to see if he passed something.

I had a cat who started vomiting everytime she ate. Food, followed by liquid.

She had too much flora in her intestines. Ended up giving her prednisone every day for a few years (a very small dose - the risks of the prednisone wasn't as much as the vomiting). She did fine as long as she was on that.

The vet will probably take some stool to test for bacteria.

Well, I'm relieved to say that all seems to be well with our Billy again.
A huge improvement on yesterday. He's eating normally and has regained his alertness - yesterday, he was so listless it was unreal.

We're not taking his recovery for granted and have arranged a visit to the vet tomorrow. He's due for boosters as it happens.

Thanks to those of you who replied. It was much appreciated.

<Chai - hope your' Jezebel is feeling better>

I just saw this.

Glad to hear your fella is feeling better, lmur - and that he's seeing the vet soon.

There must be something going around. When we took the dogs in for the girl's appointment, people were in picking up their cats - and anti-nausea medication.

Thanks ehbeth.

He has improved again today. Chasing, hiding and a-lepping like the new time. Appears there's no need for an exorcism for this particular spawn of Satan!

My mother in law took him to the vet today (my wife & I are both working) and told us the vet said he was fine. So, all's well that ends well.

Do you have any houseplants that are missing a few leaves? Sometimes one of our cats will be troubled by a hairball and start to eat crazy things in an attempt to thrown it up. Maybe he ate something that then made him sick. I'm glad he's better now. You'll probably never know for sure what it was.

You know, JB, you may well be right. We have a catnip plant outdoors and I brought it in thinking he might enjoy a sniff. That was the night before he took ill. Could that have caused it, I wonder?

(just as I type this, he's jumped onto my lap and is nuzzling his head into my face.. )

Very Happy

But I haven't met an Irish cat, yet! Can you tell us more about this paricular feline, Imur? I'm guessing, a fabulous tabby. Am I right?

Oh, & a ginger tabby at that!
He's a beauty, Imur!
He has a rather wilful, determined look about him! I gather he runs the household?

A steely resolve, msolga, he's a manipulative SOB.

Sort of what's mine is mine. What's yours, that's mine too. Cool

You've just gotta accept it. I know when I'm beat...

Yeah, I know, I know, Imur. "Accept the rule of my iron paw or not, that's the way things are gonna be, human! I come with conditions!" Laughing

The "iron paw", love it.

It's over-due bedtime here, msolga. Enjoyed our little chat.

G'night.
