If you had to find out how many fives there are
in a set of numbers from 5000 to 6000.
(5001, 5002, 5003 ... 5998, 5999, 6000)

How would you do it, and how many fives are there?

Count the number of 5's in the fourth place, the number of 5's in the third place, the number of 5's in the second place, and the number of 5's in the first place. They can be counted independently among themselves.

1300 (from 5000 to 6000)
