what's everyone's favorite winter olympic sport? i'm really excited about the opening ceremony on friday. i'm a big fan of alpine skiing, speed skating, ski jumping, and...figure skating haha. any particular athletes to watch for this year?
curling. It is so damn goofy that I watch it like a train wreck.
All of it ... I'm an addict!

Skeleton.
It's similar to the luge, except you lie face down and head first. I mainly like the name.
I also love the curling.
A sort of cross between bowling and housework.
yeah skeleton def sounds bad ass. is it a pretty new event? i don't remember from a while ago. as for curling, i still don't get what you have to do to win/lose (am from the north so it shames me to admit so haha).
I think it was just added in 2002.
sweet - good stuff. i wonder what other sports they might end up adding? X-game stuff?
Tick tock, Tick tock ... Saturdays coming!!

I guess I like the ski jumping the best. It is beautiful to watch and is the winter sport I can least imagine myself doing... to that level of perfection anyway. I can imagine going down the ramp and trying to stop..
Hockey!
I also watch figure skating with The Lovely Bride just to see her go ballistic at the judges.
I used to watch the downhill back when I used to ski. <sigh>
I'm with Lord E. I can't wait until monday morning to watch the start of the curling match or whatever is the proper terminology. I'll be up at 3:00 A.M. so as not to miss a single breath taking moment of the event.
Also, I read that there is a slight difference between the skeleton and the luge. The skeleton has rounded runners like a bobsled. The luge has sharpened runners somewhat like ice skates.
Ski Jump.
Anyone remember the intro to "Wide World of Sports" where the ski jumper crashes into a small building and demolishes it...."and the agony of defeat"
Was a German skier I believe.
oh oops, thanks for letting us know about that thred ossobuco! let the fun begin!!!
Luge is cool and come to think about it a sledding is cool.
I wanna see ice fishing as a an Olympic Sport.
...only if gen-x finds a way to do it while spinning through the air.
I'm not a big winter sports guy but.........it bothers me that the Olympics have no problem with the "halfpipe", but don't consider baseball an Olympic sport???????
Maybe they need baggier uniforms?
I wonder whether they'll drop women's hockey.
All the games involving the USA or Canada will be blowouts
until they face off against each other.
