MOAN:

So now you have established that you're a liar. You said your 'goodbye' then you renege on your word and now say you're back!

Your creed is 'deception is okay'.

After all Rebecca did deceive Isaac by having Jacob wear animal skins to simulate Esau's hairiness. Laban deceived Jacob by promising Rachel and switching her with Leah on the wedding day.

Deception is okay as long as you're in the right crowd.

talk72000,

If you think that I lied, then you think I lied. I did say I wasn't coming back and I did.

Have you never changed your mind about anything? Does that mean you lied?

Oh good, you're back. Feels good to accumulate a little self-confidence, doesn't it?

You are a sweetie and I'm glad to see you back on a2k. Now if we could only make you see the errors of your ways...(place emoticon here).

God bless you!

No problem, Momma! If I'm ever in your area, I'll take you up on that offer!

(Thank you for the nice words, Cybercat and Reyn!)

Diane,

Well, I'm working on some of those errors. Laughing Can we start with the smaller ones first? You're not so bad yourself!

LABONZA-Italian slang for any part of the upper face, including but not limited to the ears, the head, etc.

Jeez Louise now everybodies usin smileys , What the hell is the matter with you people??

You read sedaris too?
From the book "Me Talk Pretty One Day"......Easter big happy day when baby Jesus die!
(Sedaris attempt at translation from English to a language of a non-christian as to what Easter is)

Labonza is your stomach (I thought) thus the expression is "I'm gonna hit ya IN the labonza." a la Ralph Cramden.

<sigh> I wish Kicky were here to explain.

I gotta admit I voted option *2.

But - I also gotta admit I like the poll (options). They show a sense of humor.

Oh, and I wonder whether I'm one of those obnoxious "stars" Stray et cetera are talking about, but we probably all do now.

(I'd say, if you find someone obnxious, just tell them, or if need be, report them, rather than stay mum and then complain about it to others later ... but thats just my style I guess)

Plus, it looks like MA has become a bit of one of those stars now too, annoying quite a bunch of people but at the same time having gathered her own set of "you go, Momma!" fawns as well. (Surely not deliberately, or at least ... at most in a subconscious way)

I'm glad you're back, actually, MA. And I'm annoyed by those who are purposefully blunt to you as well.

I'm also concerned however that you can't see (or not feel, anyway) the difference between someone attacking you and someone attacking your opinion/assertion/proposition; and that you cant see (or feel, anyway) the difference between someone relentlessly questioning/analysing/disproving your proposition and someone "attacking" it.

So on that count, I'm kinda holding my breath ... you gotta get a grasp of those distinctions or stay out of the debate (S&R, Politics) forum, I'd say, or the whole thing is bound to repeat itself. Well, basically, the point I wrote in that (overlong) post in the other thread, that Soz just referred to.

farmerman,

I will make a deal with you ~ you stop posting words I have to look up all the time and I won't use my smileys. We got a deal or what?

I have a better idea. Answers.com has this neat little program. It downloads a tiny tab, which you can put on the bottom of your screen. When you want to look up a word, you hit the tab, type the word in, and up it comes. And it is so much more than a dictionary.

Anyone who has used GuruNet or Atomica will be familiar with this. The new program is the successor to the other two, and offers much more information for free.

http://www.answers.com/main/product_info.jsp

I use this program constantly when I am writing on A2K, either to check out a word that I don't understand, or to find a better way to say something.I find it a great way of increasing my vocabulary.

Phoe:

What a great tool. Even us old computer jocks learn something every day. Thanks!!

You already know my stance on this matter MommaAngel...as I have said before...hang on it'll change and maybe even get easier for you...invest in some blinders and earplugs...it'll make the journey less traumatic.

nimh,

You are very correct that I do have a hard time distinguishing between a personal attack and an attack on my argument, etc. I am learning. I hope I get it soon! Seriously, I am learning that there is a difference. I am beginning to see that pretty clearly.

I rather like my sense of humor. It's my sense of delivery and timing that needs the real work. When you have to explain your jokes, they just lose something in the translation. Laughing

Thanx for the kind words.

Sturgis,

Yes, I do and I appreciate you reinforcing it. I have a set of blinders and earplugs already picked out!
