Xpect they've been put off by the difficulties attending A2K at the moment; there's very little movement on any of the threads, it seems.

Zapping the hamsters with serious consequences for leaving their wheels might fix the problems.

Boscastle is a small village on the north Cornish coast that flooded in August, 2004; two million tonnes of water flowed through it that day.

Can't believe the rhetoric taking place between the Australian Prime Minister and his State Premiers about our water crisis, political point scoring on all fronts but nothing gets done!

Dutchy's remark is rather tangential but still involves the subject of water, which is a scarce resource but can devastate a village.

Entire continent is affected by the drought not just one village. Imagine a city of 1 million plus people where I live, only allowed 3 hours watering a garden per week and then at night! Washing cars or driveways strictly prohibited!

Prohibited watering of garden is merely an inconvenience. I lived in Delhi when there was only water 4 hours a day and the temperatures were 40 or so, and that was for drinking, bathing, cooking.

Quota of water is insufficient to keep garden green, town slowly turning into a desert and dustbowl.

Recent survey shows this is just the start. Australia will be unliveable in 40 years.

The chances are it will be your grandchildren who reap the whirlwind, Dutchy, so gather ye rosebuds while ye may.

Unsurprisingly our leaders are nowhere to be seen above the parapet, disasters happen when good women and men do nothing !

Very occasionally it takes more than good men and women - who are all doing their bit, insulating roofs, recycling bottles, selling 4x4s, not running water when they brush their teeth - what we need is good scientists.

Well said Clary, I already follow your suggestions, little else I can personally do to improve the situation as I'm only a small voice in a big world.

Xcellent to hear you and I are equally virtuous on the Save the Planet front; however I am plotting a round the world trip before it becomes too expensive with extra fuel tax!

Yes, that is a good idea, will you be flying or travelling by ocean liner?

Zounds! If I could afford an ocean liner, I would certainly use that, for the planet and to save me the hassle and sweat of flying.
