Very unlikely for overseas visitors. There are concessions for the over 60's on a State to State basis if residing here.
Woe is me. I'll never be able to afford the fare there and to actually travel within Oz.
X-tra expensive to travel by car, price of petrol, but dirt cheap to fly everywhere. Prices unbelievably low. Have seen them advertise Melbourne-Darwin for $79.00!!
You're right, that is very cheap, though the chances are that by the time I get there they'll have skyrocketed along with other oil prices.
Zero chance of that. Price have been very competitive for flying for a long time and are still going down. Secret is to check Internet daily and book in advance over the internet.
All right. Have you travelled extensively in your own island?
Been to most places by car and caravan and have flown a bit too. Clary have a look at the following site, you can judge for yourself about flying here:

Cor! I remember Virgin Blue having some very good deals when I was there in 2003. But actually I hate flying, it scares me
Do not advise you to travel by yourself through this great continent though, much safer to be in company with others.
Even in my own camper van? I did that in WA 3 years ago for a week.
Few incidents with overseas visitors have hit the headlines unfortunately but if one is careful it can be done. I personally never travel inland by myself, always in company with one or two others, that's my rule.
Have to think about that one.
Instant reply not needed - you have probably got a couple of years yet!
Just hoping I'm still around then.
Keen for you to keep going, sorry you think it's in doubt!
Muggy here today (followed by Tueggy Weggy and Thursggy I suppose) - I think there are thunderstorms predicted, yippee!
Not here - it was a balmy 24 C
Oh, you lucky girl, freezing cold down under.
