Can someone tell me exactly what "Dedicated" means in this configuration?

If you have a "dedicated T1" connection between two remote sites, what is in between?

T1 service is a digital long distance voice and/or data line running from your location to the local phone companies' central office and connected directly to the backbone carriers' equipment bypassing the local companies switch. Only you utilize this line.

"Dedicated" generally means you are guaranteed the full bandwidth of 1.54 mbps.

The configuration can either be point-to-point T1, meaning that they simply provide the copper and your equipment manages all of the communications, or it can be frame-relay, which means there is a T1 line at each end that connects to equipment at the telco.

"Dedicated" usually means point-to-point. Price varies based on distance.

Frame relay is based on both bandwidth and distance.

There is also fractional T1 (frac-T1). That generally means a 256 or 512 kbps.
