That indicates the presence of a Trojan, and odds are it ain't alone. You're likely gonna hafta go through some hoops to get rid of it and its freinds. For now, continue to deny access. If you'd like to take a shot at getting rid of it, you might wanna follow the preliminary cleanup proceedure spelled out HERE.

If you decide to go that way, post your logs and reports on this thread, and somebody'll be along before too long to take a look at 'em and get you started on the road to recovery. A word of advice - before taking anyone's advice on the internet, check out the advisor; see what sorta track record there is. You can browse through the Computers forum here to get a pretty good idea who can be trusted. Also, if you do wanna go through the hoops, you might find it convenient to click on "Turn on email updates" down at the bottom right of the page - doing so will cause a notification to be sent to the email address you used at time of A2K registration whenever this topic receives a reply.

I jumped through the hoops. I believe my machine is now clean, but would appreciate verification. I am submitting my 1st ewido log as well as my hjt log. I forgot to save the 2nd ewido log, but when I had run it, it came up clean.

Looks like the nasties are gone, but there's still a bit of cleanup to do. One thing I noticed: HJT should be run from a dedicated folder of its own, either in your Program Folder or directly on your root drive (the drive on which Windows is installed). Also, you really should update your Windows - you're system is vulnerable to a number of exploits that current patches, updates, and Service Packs will prevent.



These indicate to me you once had Norton SystemWorks but have deleted it. It appears you're using a current and valid version of Grisoft's AVG Free, so I'd have HJT "Fix" the following entries:

With nothing else running, and no browsers, email, messaging, or chat clients, or other windows open, launch HJT, run a scan, place a checkmark next to each of the above entries, and click "Fix Checked". When you've done that, locate and launch CCleaner, and do a full system scan-and-clean, then reboot, wait a couple minutes without doing anything, then, again with nothing else open or running, launch HJT, run a scan-and-save-log-only, fixing nothing, and post the latest log here. I figure you're done, just wanna make sure.

I'm pretty good at following directions, and I believe I've done what you suggested. Still, I see that two of those Norton entries remain.

They aren't gonna hurt anything. See what happens if you try to have HJT fix them while in safe mode.

I gave that a try and they are hanging on. As long as they're not hurting anything, I guess I'll just leave them alone.
