This is the only thread of this sort I will start, and it is merely to make a point.

When I first started posting here in the S&R forum it was fun. I enjoyed debating with people who had a lot of knowledge about different subjects. I found it intellectually stimulating. It made me see things in perspectives I hadn't even considered before. Now sadly it seems to have turned to an "us" against "them" forum with the majority involved in childish disputes in the existing threads, and creating topics that are nothing but nonesense. Can we please stop now?

My self-perception is similar to your own....that much of the so called debate is "childish" placing ourselves as "adult". But we need to transcend this to understand something about "knowledge" and "reality" themselves and the fact that they are subject to social negotiation.

Of course they are fresco. But how can anyone debate when the majority of what is being posted now are things like:

"The bygone days of S&R"

"In all honesty"

"Praise the Lord"

"Stupid topics make me mad"

"Quit with the does God exist"

Just to name a few.

Most seemingly created by both "sides" merely to sling horsie poop at each other. If we could get our attention off of the fact that people are offending us, maybe we could get back to some good ol' debate. That's all I'm asking. I hope it's not too much...

Quite an accurate title, judging by human athiest behaviour as far as polluting is concerned, and alien christian behaviour, in trying to defend their corner that an imaginary friend helps them through life.

I find a tremendous irony in that Miss Eppie, who became a member not two weeks ago, seems to think that the quality of discussion of spiritual and religious topics has deteriorated in just that short span. Imagine then, how it seems to those of us who have been here for more than three years. From that perspective, with the caveat that a certain thread long ago made this particular part of the playground truly vicious, i'd point out that it is only within the last few months that things have gotten really nasty.
