I need good films to rent from a DVD club. Put full name of the film, and it'll be great if you describe the film a bit, put actors, genre...

Thank you!

Um, do you like comedy? Romance? Mystery? Action? Suspense? Horror? Kids' stuff? Art House?

There are thousands of movies, you'll need to be more specific.

Let's say Mystery, Comedy, Suspense.

By the way, may you explain what is Art House?

Thank you.

Oldboy

would be suspence, i guess.. possibly a drama.

A man gets kidnapped , for no reason, and held hostage for almost 20 years. Then he is released with a time frame for learning WHY he was captured in the first place.

Asian film, subtitled.. great acting, and a plot that just leaves you in tears, disgusted and happy all at once.

A good film.

Art House is stuff like the works of Truffault and Bunuel. Hard to explain.

Hmmm mystery, comedy, suspense.

Mystery -- there are any number of old Sherlock Holmes stories on film. Very old-fashioned but it's interesting to see how the problems are worked out. Their titles are things like The Hound of the Baskervilles. The stars are Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. These films have been remade a few times but those guys are in the old black and white ones and they're fantastic. It's a very British set of films, mainly made post-WWII.

Comedy -- man, this is a huge genre. Everything from screwball (such as The Awful Truth with Irene Dunne) to gross-out (the granddaddy of 'em all is Animal House, with John Belushi). I find the Airplane movies to be really silly and easy to watch.

Suspense -- the single best director is Alfred Hitchcock. Get any films with him as a director that you can get your hands on. He's incredible. Some of his best: Psycho, North by Northwest, Notorious, The Lady Vanishes, The Birds, Strangers on a Train and Rear Window.

All modern/scary and fabulous-
Saw-Sick twisted film on appreciating life.
Wolf Creek-teenish flick but very violent as youve never seen it before
Wrong turn-inbreds kill teens
The Descent-cave exploring with strange creatures.

Romantic comedy-
The truth about cats and dogs-beautiful versus plain and trying to attract me
Romy and Michelles high school reunion-Lisa Kudrow, need i say more
Theres something about Mary

Comedy-
City Slicker-middle aged men go on a cow trail, very funny
Scary Movie 3-just watch it for the butlers hand

Let's make this a bit easier.

http://www.pirana.co.yu/dvd2.php3

Zanr - genre (search mostly for "triler" - triller, also "komedija" - comedy.)

Naziv - name

Glumac - Actor

Reziser - director

^you can also search by naming director or actor...

If you find there something good, please write here. Any way, continue...

Thank you all.

OK, I am surprised to find your videostore is even more meagrely stacked than the one I have here up north :-)
In the thriller section, ones I can suggest (in the order in which they appear in the list):
From Dusk till Dawn (ok, with Quentin Tarantino as a psychokiller and Salma Hayek as sexy vampire)
Pulp Fiction (classic)
The Shawshank Redemption (ok)
The Cell (with J-Lo but still ok)
Jackie Brown (Another Tarantino film, with Pam Grier)
Casablanca (must be mentioned, though perhaps not your taste)
The Client (ok, with Susan Sarandon)
Dead Calm (Billy Zane very convincing as psychokiller)
The Wanishing (must be The Vanishing, mentioned above)
Road to Perdition (Tom Hanks is almost always worth watching)
The Sugarland Express (Stephen Spielberg first major movie)
The Big Sleep (another Bogey vehicle)
There are more films worth seeing in the list but this should get you started.

As for the comedies:
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (very weird)
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (even weirder)
Asterix and Obelix II (slapstick of French design, with Monica Belluci as Cleopatra)
Beetlejuice (another weird flick starring a young Winona Rider)
Chocolat (fingerlickin' good)
Coyote Ugly (not a comedy, but a heartwarming little film nonetheless)
Evolution (ok)
Galaxy Quest (funny if you like sf)
Bend it like Beckham (fun football (soccer) flick, with pretty girls)
Airplane (airdisaster spoof)
Cats and Dogs (very good special effects)
The first Wives Club (for the recently divorced)
Mouse Hunt (escalation comedy)
EuroTrip (How American teens see Europe, with some gratuitous nudity and a catchy song)
Shaun of the Dead (zombie spoof)
Back to the Future (nice premiss)

And I have to protest "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" is listed as Erotski and I feel that is an incorrect label.

Well, this far north, we think that further south people have more of most things (except snow and reindeer) than we.

And I do consider the local video store to be lacking in the assortment of good classic films, as well as non-mainstream fliscks.
